Cancer Research UK
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives
through research, is delighted to be a Home Run official partner for 2012.
Leading a healthy and active lifestyle can actually substantially reduce the risks of some forms of cancer. Every 2 minutes in the UK someone is diagnosed with cancer. Our groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer has seen survival rates double in the past 4 years. Our scientists and doctors have contributed to most of the world’s top cancer drugs and we have pioneered the use of radiotherapy to treat cancer. But more than 1 in 3 of us will still get cancer at some point in our lives. Our research, entirely funded by the public, is critical to ensuring more people beat it.
The partnership between Home Run and Cancer Research UK is an unique and exciting opportunity to get London running, fuelling a passion for keeping active whilst finding a healthy solution to your daily commute. Together we will run home, together we will beat cancer.
Helen Jackson from Cancer Research UK said: “We know that being physically active can help reduce the risk of cancer and so we are delighted that Home Run has chosen Cancer Research UK as its official charity partner.
“We encourage everyone to exercise regularly as part of a healthy lifestyle and Home Run provides an innovative opportunity to get busy Londoners running, offering a healthy solution to the daily commute”
